The following table explains the options that you can use in the Rate field.

Leave the field blank |
PayGlobal derives a rate using the standard hierarchy:

Note: If the Rate field is blank, then the Unit rate field is disabled. |

Enter an override rate (usually ‘0’) |
Depending on your rates configuration, you can set up an override rate, which is usually ‘0’. When you select the override rate, you can type a value in the Unit rate field. |
Select a valid rate code |
You would select a rate code when the allowance has to use a value from the employee's award; not the default rate on the employee’s Rates tab. For example, overtime that is paid at a different rate to ordinary hours. |
Note: Selecting a Rate disables the Unit rate field. |
