Leave the field blank

PayGlobal derives a rate using the standard hierarchy:

  • Award allowance rate
  • Period allowance rate
  • Internal company allowance rate
  • Allowance rate.

Use a blank Rate for the following:

  • Standard hourly payments
  • Standard leave payments
  • When the allowance is a percentage of the employee’s default rate, such as penal rates.

Note: If the Rate field is blank, then the Unit rate field is disabled.

Enter an override rate (usually ‘0’)

Depending on your rates configuration, you can set up an override rate, which is usually ‘0’. When you select the override rate, you can type a value in the Unit rate field.

Select a valid rate code

You would select a rate code when the allowance has to use a value from the employee's award; not the default rate on the employee’s Rates tab. For example, overtime that is paid at a different rate to ordinary hours.

Note: Selecting a Rate disables the Unit rate field.
