Troubleshooting Leave Approval

Changes to data may affect whether leave requests can be approved.

The following table explains these situations and the messages that managers will receive when they attempt to approve the leave request.

Scenario

Message

Leave requests may not be able to be approved when:

Leave requests overlap. A leave request was entered in PayGlobal after a leave request was submitted in ESS, but not approved.

The dates of this leave request conflict with another request. You cannot approve this leave request.

An employee's unit source was changed to "None" after they submitted a leave request in ESS. The employee does not have permission to request leave for part or all of the submitted leave request.

The employee no longer has permission to apply for leave in a period that this request covers. You cannot approve this leave request.

Leave requests cannot be approved when:

The employee's unit source was changed. The employee can still request leave, but the unit source has changed to "Rostered", "Profiled" or "Keyed".

The units required for this leave request have changed since submission.

The employee's profiled (contracted) hours have changed, which affects the number of units that the employee has requested.

The employee's roster has changed, which affects the number of units that the employee has requested.

A change was made to the period or the period dates.

Any other change that affects the number of units that the employee has requested. For example, an employee submitted a leave request for a week that included a public holiday, but the public holiday is no longer set up as a public holiday.

Partial leave requests cannot be approved when:
(Additional to the scenarios above)

No access to partial leave (may be due to a blank duration).

Partial day leave is no longer available for this employee.

Employee no longer works that day.

Employee is no longer expected to work on this day.

The employee's unit source was changed after they submitted the request.

The units required for this partial day leave request may no longer be correct. Please confirm the number of units required for this leave request.
